The territory of the botanical garden is 262 hectares; it is the absolute record among all European parks. Donetsk botanical garden has 5 greenhouses – the special buildings for the exotic plants.
More than 5 thousand various kinds of plants are growing on the territory of the garden in all. A great number of scientists work here.
The botanical garden in Donetsk was created as the complex for biological problems study on the territory of south-eastern Ukraine. Its scientific activity is directed to the protection of rare and disappearing kinds of plants.
